Sedalia Police Reports for October 27, 2023

Early Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West 5th Street for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers arrived on scene, and set up a perimeter. Officers were able to make contact with one of the residents, and they allowed a search of the home and property. Nothing indicating a burglary was located. One of the residents had a Pettis County Warrant stemming from an arrest in June of 2023 for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior Drug Offense). Beverly Ann McCall, 68, of Sedalia, was arrested for her warrant, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and given a cash or surety bond of $7500.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Bomgar’s parking lot, 2414 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a theft. When Officers arrived, they made contact with Roni Ford, who said someone had broken her car window and stolen her wallet. Ford estimated $600 in damages were done to the car. No arrests have been made.

Thursday night, Officers responded to the 1000 block of East 16th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers talked with and identified both parties. A primary aggressor could not be determined. A 12-hour log was made for documentation.

Thursday evening, Officers responded to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a disturbance. The victim stated his neighbor had trespassed on his property and then physically assaulted him before leaving the scene. Officers were able to make contact with the intoxicated suspect, who was arrested. Virgil Andrew Edgar Sr., 50, of Sedalia, was arrested for Trespassing in the 2nd Degree, and Assault in the 4th Degree. Edgar was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Sedalia Police arrived to the lobby of the Police Department Thursday evening to take a report regarding a damaged vehicle. Officers gathered information regarding the damage, which took place at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. A report was generated on the incident.

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Comfort Inn, 3600 West Broadway Boulevard regarding a trespassing complaint. Management requested someone (who was not named in the report) be trespassed from the hotel. Officers collected the property left at the hotel and placed it into safe keeping.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 4th Street in reference to a disturbance Thursday afternoon. One of the subjects involved was heavily intoxicated, and had threatened to kill the other party. Levi Grant Bell, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested for Assault. Bell was taken to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to be cleared for confinement. Bell was then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 12-hour safekeeping hold due to his level of intoxication.

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to Haney Chiropractic, 1715 West 9th Street, in reference to a property damage report. The reporting party had arrived to their place of business to find a sign ripped off the wall and miscellaneous property scattered around the porch.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 900 block of South Osage Avenue Wednesday afternoon in reference to an arson report. Since Friday October 20th, three different fires had been set around a duplex.

Officers responded to the Woods’ Supermarket, 701 East Broadway Boulevard to investigate a theft. Upon arrival, Officers met with a manager and the complainant. They informed Officers that video surveillance shows a suspect removing a large silver tarp from the business, which is valued at $10.00. The suspect has not yet been identified.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1000 block of East 11th Street. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with one of the parties involved. She stated that she and another party were involved in a physical altercation. She had an injury to her chin, but also admitted to assaulting the other party. The other party had left prior to the arrival of Law Enforcement. Their injuries were unknown. The report was submitted as a 12-hour log to document the situation, but no charges are being submitted. Officers were unable to determine a primary physical aggressor due to the other party not being present.
