Sedalia Police Reports For June 23, 2023

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Grand Avenue and West 16th Street to assist with a vehicle that was stuck on a curb. During the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. An inventory of the vehicle revealed the suspect was in possession of a firearm and prescription pills belonging to someone else. Ezra Dean Rhodes, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Driving While Intoxicated. Rhodes was transported to the SPD, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Rhodes was then booked and released.

Wednesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of West Main Street in reference to a disturbance. When Officers spoke with the caller, she stated her father had threatened to kill her and her boyfriend because she could not loan him a car. She said her father then punctured her tires with a knife. The suspect continued to call and harass the caller’s boyfriend. There was a second suspect who also threatened the caller’s boyfriend. An attempt was made to locate the suspects, but it was unsuccessful. A request for the charges of Harassment in the 1st Degree, Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, and Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police responded to the Bothwell Hospital, 601 East 14th Street, in reference to an intoxicated subject causing a scene Thursday night. Officers made contact with the male subject and arrested him. Daniel A. Murphy, 39, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 12-hour Safekeeping hold.

Officers were dispatched to the Wood’s Grocery Store, 701 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft report Thursday afternoon. The suspect stole a bottle of liquor from the store, and was located nearby. Dustin E. Bailey, 36, of Green Ridge, was arrested for Stealing. Bailey was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 4th Street and South State Fair Boulevard for a report of a found property. A bicycle was found left behind in a store drain. Officers checked the bike’s serial number with Dispatch. Dispatch stated the bike had not been reported as stolen. The bike was collected and placed into found property at the Police Station.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Dugan’s Paint and Flooring store, 3103 Erika Avenue Thursday morning in regards to a theft. The staff reported that during the overnight hours, someone stole a catalytic converter from one of the company’s delivery trucks.

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Thompson Road to the Probation and Parole Office for a report of a subject with a warrant. Contact was made with the suspect, and her information was checked with Dispatch. It was then confirmed she had a warrant out of Howard County. Barbara J. Clark, 39, of Otterville, was arrested for her warrant on charges of felony Driving While Revoked and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Clark was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a cash or surety bond set at $4, 950.00.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of East 11th Street in reference to an abandoned property report Thursday morning. While on scene, a computer check of an individual showed they had active warrant from 2022 out of Pettis County. Michele A. Davenport, 56, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Assault in the 4th Degree. Davenport was transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked in pending a cash only bond of $250.00.

Thursday morning, Officers were called to the 900 block of South Vermont in reference to an obvious death. Communications had been told the person in question was cold, stiff, and not responsive. Police, Fire, and Ambulance arrived at the scene within three minutes. The person was examined and found to be deceased. Due to the death being unattended and the age of the person, the Coroner was contacted for further investigation.
