Sedalia Police Reports for June 12, 2023

Sunday night, Officers responded to the 200 block of East 2nd Street for a report of a female unconscious at the wheel of a car. Evidence indicated the driver was impaired by drugs and in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Beverly A. McCall, 68, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. McCall was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment, before ultimately being released to hospital custody.

Sedalia Police took a report of a theft Saturday night. Triston James Byerly reported a bicycle was stolen from the 2000 block of South Limit Avenue, valued at $500.00.

Officers responded to the area of East Saline Street and North Engineer Avenue for a report of an impaired driver Saturday night. Police attempted to stop the vehicle on East Saline Street near North Randolph Avenue. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle came to a stop in a yard east of Herald, off Saline. The driver was intoxicated by drugs. Mark W. Elliott, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, and Resisting Arrest. Elliott was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Early Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of South Grand Avenue to investigate a vehicle fire. The fire was safely extinguished by Sedalia Fire. The fire appeared to be intentionally set and is still under investigation. The fire caused minor damage to the vehicle, and there were no injuries.

Police spoke to a subject over the phone Sunday afternoon about an incident that occurred that morning in Sedalia. There was no further information in the report.

Officers spoke with Ricky Hebert Sunday morning in the Police Headquarters. Hebert wished to report a theft, as he believed he had been the victim of an online scam.

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the 500 block of East 4th Street for a report of theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with Tara Davis. Davis reported her license plate was stolen from her vehicle.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the TJ Maxx store, 3105 West Broadway Boulevard Sunday afternoon in reference to a report of a private property hit and run accident. A 2013 Jeep Wrangler was struck in the driver’s side rear end by a red passenger car. The Jeep had damage to the left rear end. The case is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 900 block of South New York Avenue Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers located a 2006 Chevrolet Impala and a 2001 Ford F150, but were unable to find anyone involved in the crash. The Chevrolet had damage to the left front side, to include the left front tire and wheel. The Ford had damage to the left front side, to include the left front tire and wheel. The case is under investigation.

Sunday morning, Leslee J. Howard came to the Police Department to report a phone scam that occurred at the Organic Remedies, 4401 Wisconsin Avenue. Howard reported that the business had been scammed over the phone for a large sum of money.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of found property. The homeowner, Kathi S. Johnson, stated a red wagon was abandoned near her garage. The wagon was transported to the Sedalia Police Department for safe keeping.

Sedalia Police took a found property report from the lobby of the Sedalia Police Department Saturday night. Kayla D. Nobel stated she saw a phone fall out of the back pocket of someone riding a motorcycle at the intersection of West 4th Street and South Beacon Avenue. The phone was taken and will be placed into evidence for safe keeping.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of property damage Saturday afternoon. Contact was made with Don Eugene Williams Jr., who reported that earlier that morning, his phone and TV cables were cut by an unknown suspect.

Saturday morning, Officers spoke with Terry L. Arnold at the Police Station about a civil situation involving a vehicle purchased from Sedalia Automotive. The vehicle was sold to another person in another jurisdiction without a title. A general information report as completed at the request of the business owner.

A subject turned in several replica $20.00 bills that were located in the area of Winchester Driver and West Broadway Boulevard Saturday morning. The items were placed into evidence as found property.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 32nd Street and South Kentucky Avenue early Saturday morning. During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was found to have an active Failure to Appear warrant out of Pettis County on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Roger A. Motley, 52, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bond was set at $126.00 cash only.

Sedalia Police spoke to a victim at the Police Headquarters in reference to an assault on the afternoon of June 9th. The victim had visible injuries to her face. The assault had occurred on June 8th in the 1500 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The suspect was located and later contacted at an address in the 1200 bock of South Osage Avenue. Jimmy Lee Linley, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Linley was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Friday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the 1600 block of West 20th Street for a reported trespassing. Contact was made with the suspect in the 1800 block of South Beacon Avenue. Through investigation, it was learned the suspect had stolen items in the area and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Jon Alexander Zaremba, 32, Homeless, was arrested for Stealing, Trespassing in the 2nd Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Zaremba was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending charges.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of West Broadway Boulevard to assist Pettis County Deputies with a traffic stop Friday night. During the stop, multiple subjects gave false names and were identified by fingerprint scanner. The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office will issue a report for further details.
