Thursday night, Officers responded to The Den, 115 West Main Street for a possible assault in progress. Upon arrival, the suspect had fled the scene. The victim provided a statement, and Officers continued checking the area for the suspect. Officers located the suspect walking down South Ohio Avenue. After a positive identification, the suspect was placed under arrest. Timothy J. Budig, 51, of Sedalia, was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree. Budig was transported to the BRHC for a fit for confinement check due to his level of intoxication. Budig was then released to a sober person.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 2500 block of Kay Avenue Thursday night for a report of an assault in progress. When Officers arrived on scene, they learned the suspect had fled through the rear of the residence on foot. A short while later, the suspect was located, but he fled again on foot. Officers were able to take the intoxicated suspect into custody without incident. Anthony Rojas, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree, two counts of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree, felony Resisting Arrest, and several Failure to Appear warrants. The FTA warrants carried original charges of Minor in Possession, Open Container, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two separate charges of Driving While Intoxicated from September of 2022 and January of 2023. Bond on the warrants totaled $550.00 cash only, while the new charges have a bond to be determined.


 

On the afternoon of December 11th, Officers made an arrest in a child abuse case. Officers had been working on this child abuse case from November 22nd of 2023. A less than one month old male (at the time) had been taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center and was later transferred to University Hospital with significant injuries. The child had a fractured left femur, bilateral rib fractures at various stages of healing, a fractured left clavicle, a healing fractured tibia, and a right front acute subdural hematoma. After several interviews with the family and witnesses, the suspect was arrested at his workplace in the 3900 block of South Limit Avenue. Ezekiel Paul Ellsworth, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of felony Child Abuse/Neglect (Serious Physical Injury), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree. Ellsworth was booked in at the Pettis County Jail, pending a $50,000 cash or surety bond, with a stipulation to have no contact of any kind with the victim.

Wednesday evening, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a theft report. The theft occurred on December 7th, 2023. Suspects had entered the store and exited with approximately $800 worth of merchandise. The suspects are unknown at the time of the report.


 

Officers responded to the Menards store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, for a theft report Wednesday evening. Officers made contact with management, who stated a male suspect had entered the store, gathered some items, and then left without paying. The total value of the stolen was set at approximately $435.74. The suspect is unknown at the time of the report.


 

Late Wednesday night, Officers took a dog bite report. The report was taken at the Bothwell Regional Health Center Emergency Room from Sherman G. McNish. McNish stated the bite happened in the 1200 block of East 14th Street. Information for the report was collected.


 

Thursday morning, Officers stopped a car near South New York Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard after it failed to maintain its lane near Broadway and Center. The driver had a Pettis County warrant for his arrest stemming from an incident in October of this year. According to the Probable Cause report, the suspect allegedly head butted the victim in the nose at the Sunrise Mobile Park, 1101 South Harding Avenue. Timothy Tyrone Lister, 52, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant on charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Lister was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a $1500 cash or surety bond, with the stipulation of no contact with the victim.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to damage to a vehicle. The damage occurred in the 1900 South Quincy Avenue on December 8th, 2023. Officers made contact with the reporting party, who provided information to Officers. That information was collected, and a report was submitted.


 

Thursday afternoon, Officers took a report regarding fraud. Officers spoke with the unnamed reporting party over the phone. The fraud/deception took place at the Smith Cotton High School, 2010 Tiger Pride Boulevard. Officers submitted a report.


 

Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Police Department lobby to take a found property report. Information was collected from the person turning in a found debit card. The card was collected for safekeeping.


 

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of East Broadway Boulevard to take a report of harassment. Officers arrived on scene, and gathered information about the harassing phone calls from the victim. The report was completed.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Department lobby for a report of found property Thursday morning. Upon arrival, information was gathered and the found property was collected. The property will be held for safekeeping.
