Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports for December 27, 2023

Deputies were on patrol in the area of South Grand Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard in Sedalia on the night of December 22nd. Deputies witnessed a gold colored Ford Explorer with defective brake lights. The vehicle was stopped in the area of South Sneed Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard. Deputies made contact with the female driver, and advised of the reason for the stop. When Deputies asked the driver for her license, she stated she did not have a current driver's license. Deputies then passed the driver's information to Dispatch, who confirmed the driver's license was suspended. Nicole Lynette Marbut, 40, of Kansas City, was then arrested on a charge of felony* Driving While Suspended. Marbut was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. Marbut was also issued a citation and given a court date in February.

On the evening of December 23rd, Pettis County Deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of South Ada Avenue in Green Ridge. Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed a male subject of the residence was deceased. Pettis County Coroner Skip Smith arrived, and took control of the scene. The Hadley Funeral Home arrived and took the body. The Family was on scene, and notified others of the death.

*Marbut has been arrested for this offense before, according to Casenet: 19PT-CR00093 (2019), 19PT-CR00151 (2019) and 20PT-CR00438 (2020). Driving While Revoked/Suspended is a class E felony on the second or subsequent conviction pursuant to section 577.010 or a fourth or subsequent conviction for any other offense. Since Marbut has been convicted of this same charge three times previously, the current charge is a felony.
