Under a new rule change proposed by MoDOT, signs that direct motorists to local tourist attractions could change.  The signs, known as "traffic generators", which direct motorists to local tourist attractions such as parks, caves, and historical sites could be eliminated if the local attraction does not receive at least one million visitors per year.  This is the number that MoDOT is using as its benchmark to qualify for a sign.  The move would eliminate many of the signs found on Missouri highways that point motorists to local landmarks.  Missouri Senator Gary Romine, R-Farmington, is encouraging the public to speak their minds.  The proposed rule is under a 30-day review until tomorrow, January 15.  MoDOT is requesting public input by emailing MHTC@modot.mo.gov.
