For their second '7FOR7' episode, Lady Antebellum forever changed the life of one very special fan named Katharine Laventis.

In a heart-touching video, the band explains why they chose the college student to be a part of their fan project -- seven surprises for seven fans in seven days, called '7FOR7' -- and once you watch the video, you'll see why: she's pretty phenomenal.

The band appeared on 'The Today Show' on Tuesday (Sept. 30), where they dished the information on Laventis. "On the show, we're surprising this amazing girl. Her name is Katherine," frontwoman Hillary Scott explained. "From a really young age, she lost her parents, and she's been supporting herself and now putting herself through college."

Laventis, a nursing student, was told she and a friend had won tickets to the show's taping, but she had no idea what would transpire. She was just having a great time talking to her friend, laughing, singing along with 'Bartender' and dancing to Lady A's catchy hits. So, imagine her shock when Matt Lauer strode onstage and said, "There is a fan here today and her name is Katharine Laventis."

The shocked fan was pulled up onto the stage to stand next to Lady A, and Scott took over from there, telling her: "We hear that you win the greatest best friend award, and we know you have been through so much in your life and you have taken the brunt of everything. You're putting yourself through school, being a good friend, being a beautiful woman on the inside and out, and so we have a surprise for you."

Band member Dave Haywood continued, "We wanted to help you today; we set up a scholarship in your name to help pay for part of your nursing school."

That amazing surprise caused the waterworks to start flowing for both Laventis and Scott. Lady A will be setting up a scholarship with American International College, and Laventis won't have to shoulder as much of the burden in paying for her education.

In an interview after the surprise, the beautiful fan expressed her gratitude to the country trio and the friends and support in her life -- it was the perfect ending to a deeply touching moment.

Be on the lookout for the third episode of '7FOR7,' because like the previous two, it will probably be a tearjerker! First a music teacher, then a college student ... who's next?
