Josh Turner stopped by ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ studios yesterday (July 11) as part of a media blitz in promotion of his latest album, ‘Punching Bag,’ which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart last month.

There, Turner performed ‘Time is Love,’ the collection’s first radio offering and the singer’s current Top 15 single. ‘GMA’ co-hosts Robin Roberts and Josh Elliott were also on-hand to surprise Turner with a special gift — a plaque commemorating 12 million until sold since first signing with MCA Nashville more than a decade ago.

“I’ve learned to trust God in ways that I’ve never considered,” Turner tells Taste of Country regarding the sonic direction of his latest album. “Because I believe that God is in control of everything so even if he asks me to go against the grain on something I do it and don’t question it really. He will always make a way and He always has my best interests at heart.”

Turner also mentioned that the title-track came about as a result of one bad day in the industry. The singer acknowledges his isn’t always a ‘Punching Bag,’ but the feeling can be common for anyone who works in entertainment.

In addition to his ‘Good Morning America’ visit, Turner will also appear on ABC’s ‘The Chew’ and CBS’ ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ on August 23. The singer is scheduled to tour heavily in support of ‘Punching Bag,’ with several dates scheduled in partnership with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Click here for a full list of appearances.
