Sedalia Police were involved in a high-speed chase and manhunt Monday night after a suspect ran from officers during a traffic stop.

According to the report, Officer Elwood conducted a car stop at 16th and Harrison at 7:03 p.m. for a traffic violation on a Chevy SUV. A computer check revealed a parole warrant on one of the subjects in the vehicle. Lindsey Watkins, 35, Sedalia, was the apparent driver of the SUV. She was wanted for Driving While Suspended. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

The report further stated that the passenger, 38-year-old Shane Joe Roberts, also of Sedalia, resisted arrest and assaulted officers by taking control of the SUV and nearly striking the officers as he escaped.

A high-speed vehicle pursuit ensued, which took officers south on Grand then east on 32nd. The chase abruptly ended when the driver came to a T in the roadway at 32nd and Washington and the SUV crashed into a power pole, plunging many Sedalians in the area into darkness for about 50 minutes.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot and a manhunt began in the area, with Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and Pettis County deputies assisting with setting up a perimeter. The search also involved a MSHP helicopter circling the south-central part of Sedalia, utilizing a heat-sensitive camera to help spot the suspect, as well as the SPD's K9 unit.

The suspect had not been located at the time the police report was released. However, he reportedly was taken into custody early Tuesday morning around 6 a.m. in the trailer court at the south end of Grand Avenue and charged with 11 counts, including:

*Two counts of 1st Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
*Two counts of 3rd Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
*Two counts of Felony Resisting Arrest
*Felony escaping custody while under arrest
*Driving While Suspended
*Stealing
*Careless Driving
*Leaving the scene of an accident

Both subjects live in the 3500 block of South Grand, according to the report.
