Okay guys, it's time for us to recognize another Unsung Hero for the month.

This month, our Hero is Mike Green.  Mike was nominated by his daughter in law, who said this about him:

He is dedicated to his church, often volunteering there and helping elderly members with home repairs, transportation auto repairs, and more.  He delivers meals for the Senior Center, serves on the Patriot Guard honoring Veterans at funerals, and is a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, often escorting the Wall That Heals.

Let's take a second and unpack this story.  Mike worked for over thirty years at Alcan Cable, and when retired, he and his wife Cathy had to keep themselves busy. So, they reached out in the community with their hobbies, namely, motorcycling.  The Christian Motorcycle Association works with people in prisons to try to encourage them to better themselves and not to lose hope on improving their lives and circumstances in or after prison.  Mike and his wife Cathy have visited about thirty prisons over the years to offer this encouragement.   They also work with the Patriot Guard, which does escorting for Veteran funerals.  They bring out the big flags and ride before the procession to bring extra attention and honor to the service.  And the Wall That Heals? They also escort the more mobile monument as it makes stops around the country, keeping it safe so it can be visited all over the country.

So sure, Mike travels all over the state and the country sometimes on his bike to do great things, but he's also helping out here at home.  He volunteers with Meals on Wheels to deliver food to homebound residents, and when he sees a need they have, he uses his skill, experience, and know how to help them out.  Whether it's a simple car repair, a bigger job like replacing a roof, or just making sure everyone's okay, Mike goes the extra mile to get it done. Here's his talk with Randy Kirby about the nomination and everything Mike does.

Thanks again to Mike and his wife Cathy for all they do to help in their retirement! You can nominate your next Unsung Hero right here. It can be anybody who you know, work with, or in this case, are related to. If they're doing some good here in our towns, we wanna know.

Unsungly yours,
Behka
