Larry Melton, ragtime archive curator, will present "A State of Ragtime" report on Thursday, July 28 from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. at the Katy Deport, 600 E. Third.
The report will summarize the significance of Sedalia ragtime's connection to American music history; the community's achievements in celebration of Scott Joplin and his music; the impressive scope of the archives collection; and the allure that Sedalia has for ragtime performers and fans.
The report will also serve as a call to action for a long-term strategic community collaboration that unites and promotes efforts to strengthen Sedalia's claim to ragtime fame.
