Additional Information

The next Pettis County Pachyderm meeting is at 12 p.m. Friday, March 29 at the Heckart Community Center, 1800 W. 3rd, in Community Room C.

Guest speaker will be Pettis County Pachyderm President Kevin Lujin, who will lead a discussion covering several items of important public interest that have arisen recently that could significantly impact those who live, work or visit Sedalia.

Those items include, but are not limited to:

1) the recent closure of the Washington Street Bridge
2) where to locate a replacement fire station for the one at 600 South Hancock
3) consideration of adopting updated building code standards for both commercial and residential buildings
4) discussion about making Sedalia a "Home Rule" or "Charter" city, and
5) the possibility of extending City Council terms from two years to four

As a matter of public service in the spirit of the Pachyderm Club's founder, George Parker and his foundational principal of the Club that “Free government requires active citizens,” the Pettis County Pachyderm Club will host a session to provide a thorough and accurate update on what is known publicly about the matters cited above as well as to provide a forum for others to share either their recent experiences with departments overseen by the City of Sedalia’s municipal government.

Stanley Cox emphasized that the meeting is NOT a gripe session.
“The goal of this meeting is to provide information to others regarding good experiences with the City of Sedalia as well as to share perspectives on matter of policy under consideration and to document information that can be provided to elected officials and department leaders where opportunities for improvement in the City exist,” he said.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Those attending also may purchase their lunch at the Heckart Community Center’s cafeteria or feel free to bring your own meal.
