Before Cassadee Pope agreed to team up with Maren Morris for Girl: The World Tour, the singer was running low on gigs. She knew she needed to come up with a touring schedule for 2019.

"I was looking at my calendar, and, man, it was just blank. I was like, 'I need a tour next year,'" Pope recalls to The Boot. "I was like, 'I cannot believe that I'm gonna have another no-tour year -- like, a third consecutive year of no touring. This sucks!'"

So, she reached out to a friend: "I texted Maren, and I was like, 'Hey, girl, are you headlining anything next year? Do you need an opener for any of the shows?'" Pope continues. "I was down to come out with just an acoustic [setup] or whatever."

As luck would have it, however, Morris already had plans for Pope in the works.

"She was like, 'That's so funny! I literally just finished a proposal to your team for you to open for me on my tour next year!'" Pope recounts. "And come to find out that both RaeLynn and I are going to be opening on some different dates."

Pope couldn't be prouder to be a part of Girl: The World Tour, especially because of the message of empowerment that Morris espoused when she decided to bring an all-women lineup out on the road. Points out Pope, "This is a girl that really practices what she preaches."

"She really is such an advocate for women in music, and not just in country, but is also just an advocate for women in general," Pope says of Morris. "It's such an amazing thing she's doing, and it's very intentional. It's not like we're gonna hint at the fact that this is a female empowerment song; it's literally called "Girl.""

Touring with her fellow female artists will be a big part of Pope's year. Not only is she joining Girl: The World Tour in 2019, but she is also headlining the 2019 CMT Next Women of Country Tour, on which she will be joined by Clare Dunn and Hannah Ellis.

"The thing I love about this whole movement [surrounding women in country music] is that it's a positive thing," she explains. "It's not blaming anybody; it's not man-shaming or anything like that. We all love us some men, and there's a lot of men in our lives that are amazing and really there for us. It's really just a positive message. And I'm so behind it.

"I love that the whole first few months of my year are gonna be touring with my girlfriends, spreading that message everywhere we go," Pope adds.
