Jason Aldean‘s name has been hot in the news lately, but not for his music. The singer filed for divorce from his wife of 12 years last month, and there has been much speculation that dancer/former ‘American Idol’ contestant Brittany Kerr may have been the root of the cause, as she was photographed kissing Aldean last year.

However, Kerr’s mom has spoken out, denying that her daughter contributed to the fall of the country star’s marriage.

“Brittany is not responsible for any breakup,” Debbie Kerr assures, (quote via Wet Paint). She adds that any rumor that indicates the contrary is “simply not true,” and that her daughter is single, does not live in LA anymore, and “was never with that married man.”

TMZ reports that Aldean actually called Kerr after deciding to file for divorce, warning her about the media frenzy that would ensue after the news broke as a kind gesture. The ‘Idol’ contestant shut down all her social media pages in preparation for the media firestorm.

The ‘Take a Little Ride’ released a statement following the announcement that he and his high school sweetheart were splitting, saying, “This is a really tough time for my entire family. Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew up together as a couple.”

He added, “She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our number one priority.”
