Zac Brown Band to Sing National Anthem Before BCS National Championship Game
When the BCS National Championship game airs on Monday (Jan. 7), football fans are in for a real treat. Whether you side with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish or the Alabama Tide, you'll enjoy the pre-game entertainment, as Zac Brown Band is set to sing the National Anthem.
The BCS game will be played in Miami, where four of the band's seven members will travel to take the mic in the center of the jam-packed stadium. Thanks to their award-winning harmonies and experience singing before major sporting events, ZBB is a great choice to kick off the highly-anticipated bowl game with a patriotic tune.
In 2012, the popular country group sang before the MLB All-Star Game Home Run Derby, and in 2011, they used their talent to open for the NFC divisional playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons.
Hopefully, this appearance will quiet bad news surrounding the band's lead singer and namesake. Brown has made the news a few times in the past year, and not just for great album sales. Last summer, Brown was criticized by the Little People of America for participating in a game called 'Midget Bowling' during one of his tour stopovers.
In December, the talented musician made the news again, as he's being sued by a former employee for copyright infringement. The former employee believes that Brown has used one of his designs on the cover of the band's upcoming album, 'You Get What You Give,' as well as ZBB merchandise, and wants due credit. Brown, the Zac Brown Band and the group's record label are all named as defendants in the lawsuit.
Following the 2013 BCS National Championship appearance, the group is hoping to take their live show to more fans overseas.
