Wrong-way Driver Dies in Head-on Collision in St. Louis
A head-on collision killed a St. Louis man Saturday afternoon in St. Louis County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that two southbound vehicles (2000 Toyota Avalon & a 2012 Ford F-150) were on Lewis & Clark Boulevard (south of Moline Acres) around 5:30 p.m., and a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by a 31-year-old man from St. Louis, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes.
The driver of the Avalon swerved to miss the Honda, but the left side of the Honda struck the Avalon.
The Honda continued traveling in the wrong direction and struck the Ford F-150 head-on.
The St. Louis driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was transported to Barnes Jewish Hospital by Christian Ambulance, where he was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m., by Dr. M. Matlock.
The driver of the Ford, a 44-year-old man from Jerseyville, Illinois, suffered minor injuries and was also transported to Barnes Hospital.
