The Division of Music at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) School of Visual and Performing Arts has announced several events for the Fall 2024 season.

From family concerts to the Ovation Performance Series, UCM is proud to bring an exciting world of music to Warrensburg this fall.

The season opens with the Provost’s Faculty Showcase at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 in Hart Recital Hall. Celebrate the start of the new school year with performances from stellar faculty from across the divisions of Music, Theatre and Dance. Everyone is invited to attend a free pre-event reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the UCM Art Center Gallery. The annual Division of Art & Design faculty showcase will take place later in the semester.

Three events in October and one in November round out the fall festivities for UCM Music.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the 44th annual Festival of Champions returns to Walton Stadium to showcase the best high school marching bands from across the region.

UCM voice professor Jacob Sentgeorge takes center stage at Hart Recital Hall on Monday, Oct. 21 for a recital of music by women composers, together with guest artist Courtney Fletcher, soprano, and UCM piano professor Mia Kim.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, venture if you dare to Hendricks Hall for a brand new event, Mulemania Halloween. Starring UCM Bands, this immersive, family-friendly event will include themed music, a costume contest and free or discounted admission for kids and adults who show up in costume.

The fall season concludes with “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” a presentation of UCM Opera on Nov. 20-23 in the Highlander Theatre. An audience favorite since its television premiere in 1952, this one-act holiday performance is a collaboration between UCM Music and UCM Theatre and Dance, and is made possible by generous support from the Missouri Arts Council. Special guest artists, StoneLion Puppet Theatre, will perform alongside the student cast.

Tickets are required for admission to all season events; the two faculty events are free, but tickets are needed. To purchase or reserve tickets, visit ucmo.edu/musictickets.

From scandalous bikini calendars to your dad's AMC Gremlin, '80s garages were a treasure trove of adventure, good fun, and sometimes downright danger.
