The UCM Mules beat Central Oklahoma 44-26 to start the season 6-0. It's only the sixth time in the school's history Mules football has gone undefeated through the first six games of the season. The last time the Mules accomplished this was in 2002.

If the 2002 Mules are any indication of how the rest of the season might go, Mules fans are in for some exciting football. The 2002 Mules football team was the first team in school history to make the NCAA playoffs. They set a school record with 10 wins, and an 8-1 conference record. Their 23-20 win over Pittsburg State punched the team's ticket to the playoffs.

The 2002 Mules lost to 49-28 to Northern Colorado in the NCAA Division II Playoffs in Greeley, Colorado. However, that playoff appearance helped set the stage for UCM to become one of the elite teams in the NCAA Division II ranks.

Next up for the Mules is a road game against Emporia State 2-4. Last year the Mules lost 41-23. ESU brings a two game losing streak to the match up. After Emporia, the Mules take on Pittsburg State at Walton Stadium on Saturday October 26. Pittsburg State is 5-1 and that game has the potential to be an exciting one to watch. Reserved seats are $20, and general admission tickets are $12. Tickets are available here.
