University of Central Missouri Athletics announced Thursday that the exhibition game between the Mules and Washburn set for Saturday afternoon November 14 at Walton Stadium has been cancelled.

In a short statement posted on the UCM Athletics website the athletic department explained that the Ichabods had recently experienced a COVID-19 outbreak and contract tracing determined some of the football team may have been exposed to the coronavirus. Unfortunately, due to some players quarantining Washburn is unable to field a team to play on Saturday November 14.

The Washburn game is one of two scheduled exhibition games the Mules are trying to play this season. The team is scheduled to play Northwest Missouri in Northwest Missouri on Saturday November 21.

In their cancellation announcement for the Washburn game, UCM Athletics did not address whether the Mules will play at Northwest Missouri on Saturday November 21.

Washburn was set to host the Bearcats this Saturday to kick off the short series of scrimmage games, however that game has also been cancelled according to the Bearcat Sports website. Bearcat Sports says Washburn is dealing with 15 positive COVID-19 cases.
