On the night of Dec. 18, Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a registration violation.

At the time of the stop, an occupant of the vehicle fled on foot and the Officer gave chase. The suspect, 34-year-old Aaron Williams, was taken into custody a short distance later without incident.

Officers retraced the steps of the chase and located a firearm that is believed to have been thrown down by Williams when he fled. K9 Charlie was deployed around the vehicle, and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs within the car.

A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, in a quantity that would be indicative of illegal drug distribution. Further investigation revealed a room the subjects were known to be frequenting at Motel 6.

A search warrant was obtained to search it for items related to illegal drug distribution and firearm possession/trafficking. A search of the room revealed a significant amount of methamphetamine and additional evidence to support methamphetamine was being distributed from the room.

At the conclusion of the investigation, two suspects were arrested and placed on 24-hour hold.

Aaron Williams was arrested on charges of Drug Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) in the 2nd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Diazepam, Schedule 4), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Fugitive from Justice, Resisting Arrest, and an Illinois State Failure to Appear Warrant on original charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Williams was held with no bond.

33-year-old Andrew Williams was arrested on Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Diazepam, Schedule 4), and a Failure to Appear warrant from Ralls County, with a $1,000 cash or surety bond.
