Trace Adkins, Danica Patrick to Host American Country Awards
It's a surprising, yet very intriguing combination. Country crooner Trace Adkins and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick are teaming up to host the fourth annual American Country Awards on Fox.
Although this is Adkins' fourth time serving as host of the annual awards show, Patrick has never stepped onstage to take part in the show. For the past two years, Broadway star and country songstress Kristin Chenoweth has partnered with Adkins. It will be interesting to see how the 31-year-old race car driver will match up.
They both are raring to co-host, and Adkins stated on his website, “I can’t wait to see if I have what it takes to keep up with this racing superstar." He doesn't need to worry, because Patrick seems totally confident in him.
"I’m so excited to host the American Country Awards with Trace Adkins. I have no doubt he’ll be able to keep up with me. I’ve become a huge fan of country music since I came to NASCAR and have been fortunate to be in videos with Miranda Lambert and Colt Ford."
The ACAs are a unique awards show, giving fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists in categories such as artists, albums, singles, videos and touring. Last year's performers included Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley and Little Big Town.
In addition to co-hosting, Adkins will give a special performance of 'Carol of the Drum' (otherwise known as 'Little Drummer Boy'), a song featured on his forthcoming Celtic-infused Christmas album, 'The King's Gift.'
Nominees, additional performers and presenters have yet to be announced for the ACAs, airing live from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8PM ET.
