Toby Keith Pays Tribute to George Jones at Stagecoach
Toby Keith gave a fantastic performance at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival the same day that his old friend George Jones sadly passed away at the age of 81. Halfway through his set, the singer paid tribute to the iconic entertainer in a heartfelt way.
The 'Hope on the Rocks' hitmaker described Jones as a "great guy and the face of country music everybody recognized." He then began playing 'She Thinks I Still Care,' which was one of the late singer's most recognized hits. "Here's a little something you might recognize," Keith said as he launched into the classic country song. He also played 'White Lighting,' which was another one of Jones' fan favorite hits.
It's been a sad week for country music, as the Possum was truly one of the most well-loved country stars of all time, evidenced by the many treasured photos shared by artists. Keith's tribute to the legend is a touching reminder of all of the admiration and respect Jones garnered throughout his lengthy career.
The revered entertainer will certainly live on in the hearts of many country music greats, including Keith, who is now out on another USO tour, bringing hope and great music to military personnel.
