Three Marshall residents were injured Friday night in a two vehicle accident that occurred on I-70 in Saline County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2020 GMC Terrain driven by 26-year-old Sumukh K. Sathyanarayanapan of St. Louis traveled off the right side of the road on I-70 at the 77 mile marker at 9:30 p.m., and struck the guardrail, then traveled back onto the roadway and struck an eastbound 2019 Toyota Highlander driven by 69-year-old Jose T. Sorto of Marshall.

Three people in the Highlander were injured, including Jose Sorto, and 64-year-old Maria V. Sorto with moderate injuries, and 34-year-old Christopher L. Sorto, all of Marshall. All were transported to Fitzgibbons Hospital by Saline County EMS.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Truck Towing.

Both drivers were wearing a safety device, the report said.
