When Thomas Rhett played on Friday (April 15) at Wild Bill's in Atlanta, Ga., he brought out a very special guest: his father, 46-year-old Rhett Akins. The father-and-son pair performed two songs together: "That Ain't My Truck," from Akins' debut album, A Thousand Memories, as well "Boys 'Round Here," recorded by superstar Blake Shelton.

Country fans know Akins as a beloved singer-songwriter, so when Rhett paused during his set to say, “The one. The only. The man, the myth, the legend. Mr. Rhett Akins,” the crowd went wild.

“How ’bout my son, Thomas Rhett?” Akins asked fans; his question was met with loud cheers. “Are you going to sing with me?”

Both "That Ain't My Truck" and "Boys 'Round Here" were written by Akins, and Rhett nodded to his father's skills by saying, "I don't mean to get your ego any bigger than it already is, but whenever you turn on the radio, probably 70 percent of the songs you here are written by this guy right here." The crowd excitedly sang along to the two hits, and Akins and Rhett looked like they were having a whole lot of fun jamming together.

Rhett's stop at Wild Bill's was just one of many for the star as of late. He's earned an opening slot on Jason Aldean‘s upcoming summer trek and has his own European tour set for November. To see more of Rhett's upcoming show dates, visit his official website.

And if you're heading out to one of his shows, remember Rhett's advice: “We love when you stand up. We don’t like when you sit down, unless you just have to sit down. We love to get the crowd involved. We don’t really give you much of a chance to be bored. We really try to make it as fun and entertaining for you as possible, and we work really hard to make it that way.”
