The Lonestar Concert in Sedalia Was Awesome! [Photos + Video]
Lonestar came to Sedalia for a free concert on Thursday, June 22. Hundreds of fans packed the parking lot of Tractor Supply to see the superstar group perform their biggest hits, and a few surprise covers.
According to Lonestar, the crowd in Sedalia was the largest crowd they have seen during a Tractor Supply concert. Tractor Supply is sponsoring the award-winning group's tour, and they had already performed about half-a-dozen shows at Tractor Supply stores around the country before the Sedalia concert. Local fans also had a chance to meet the group and get autographs inside the store after the show.
Lonestar's set list included some of their best-known hits, like My Front Porch Lookin' In, Mr. Mom, No News, Everything's Changed, I'm Already There and Amazed. Lonestar also surprised the crowd with covers of The Dance, Please Come to Boston, and Lyin' Eyes. Fans that arrived early and were able to listen to the group's soundcheck also heard Lonestar sing The Eagles' Peaceful Easy Feeling, which, according to Lonestar's Dean Sams, the group had never before sang together. One of the musicians just started playing it and the others followed along.
Lead singer Richie McDonald shared an interesting piece of local trivia with the crowd. He said that when the group was first starting out, they would play frequently at the Silver Bullet in Columbia, and it was at the Silver Bullet that they first got word that they had landed their first record deal.
Lonestar also gave away prizes, like Tractor Supply gift cards and t-shirts to the crowd, and even sang Happy Birthday to You to concertgoer Bailey, who was celebrating her 18th birthday.
Lonestar continues to tour throughout the summer. They have a June 23 concert scheduled at Shawnee Bluff Vineyard in Eldon, Missouri, and will be back in Missouri on August 5 for the Washington Town & Country Fair. They'll also headline at the Putnam County Fair on September 9, and will perform at Silver Dollar City in Branson on September 10.
