How can squirrels predict winter weather in Missouri? Look at their nests.

Farmer's Almanac's prediction about the first half of winter for Missouri was astonishingly close which means you might want to pay attention to what they say about the rest of it.

Many parts of Missouri measured more than 7 inches of new snow just on Friday.

Heavy snow and an earthquake - just a typical January day in the Missouri bootheel.

So parents, be on the lookout.  You can prevent some bad stuff going down pretty easily with just a watchful eye.  Heck, you might even want to tell the older kids about some of these signs - not to scare them, but to let them tell themselves when it's probably a good idea to come inside and get warm.

I'm not talking about Weird Cousin Jeb.  He can stay in the attic.  He ain't hurtin nothin.

There are numerous videos that have been shared from across the state showing how everyone is coping with the first major winter storm of the season.

As we get closer to the time when the winter storm system will impact Missouri, we're starting to get estimates on what is possible and that's a key word. Current ensembles of computer models show a high probability that parts of Missouri will get slammed by up to a foot of snow by early next week.

You need to be watchful of weather the first week in January as Missouri appears to be in the path of a potentially nasty winter mix of precipitation.

The 25 computer weather models all seem to be more or less in agreement on one thing - Missouri will get more snow in January of 2025 than the state received in January of 2024.
