Veteran's Day

The annual Veteran's Day ceremony in Sedalia was held at the Pettis County Courthouse at 11 o'clock this morning.

Veterans Day is tomorrow (Nov.11), with Whiteman Air Force Base being so close, Veterans Day around this area is a special holiday. Many businesses honor our service men and women on this day by offering them free services. Carrie Underwood is performing at the Concert for Valor this Veterans Day (Nov. 11), and she has shared an emotional story about how one special military family changed how she sings one of her own songs.

Tuesday is Veterans Day, so President Obama made sure to recognize all their efforts in his most recent weekly address.

Veteran's Day will be here before we know it. We all owe so much to our cherished Veterans that to miss it would be unthinkable in our area. One way you can show your support and gratefulness would be to attend the upcoming JROTC ceremony with Smith Cotton High School.

SEDALIA (Tony Gallagher, 40 & 8 Commander) -  Veteran's Day 2013!  What a great day from start to finish!  The S-C JROTC served a delicious breakfast to all veterans and their families at the high school.  This was followed by a great program in the gymnasium with honors paid to all the veterans.  I very much appreciated being asked to be the main speaker and was humbled.

Many veterans and supporters gathered around the Pettis County Courthouse for the Veterans Day Ceremony today (Nov. 11). The ceremony is traditionally done on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month nationwide. This was originally Armistice Day and is now known as Veterans Day.

Everyone around here is probably well aware that today is a very important day.  Veterans Day isn't something that a lot of us can take lightly.  We have brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers, and friends who have served in one way or another or are still serving today.  So I think a lot of us are just looking for different ways to say thank you. R
