Naomi Watts’ is the second-billed star in Jean-Marc Vallée’s Demolition. On the film’s official Fox Searchlight website, her name appears above the title next to Jake Gyllenhaal’s. But she barely appears in the film’s trailer. She’s onscreen for less than one second. She says just three words. (“You miss her?”) It’s almost like the trailer is trying to hide her.
Hollywood has seen its fair share of movies where man attempts to conquer nature, only to find himself thoroughly humbled. Everest looks to continue that trend, putting one of the best ensembles in recent memory smack-dab in the middle of Mother Nature’s wrath. As the trailer shows us, an Everest expedition going wrong looks like an incredible movie.
It looks like ‘Suicide Squad’ is still searching for its Rick Flagg. Following Tom Hardy’s departure from Warner Bros. upcoming DC super villain project, Jake Gyllenhaal was being eyed to take over. But the actor has basically said “Nah, bro, I’m good” and passed on the film as well. With David Ayer’s film hitting the big screen in 2016, WB still has a little time to cast the central role.
Tom Hardy was one of many high-profile actors who, last month, signed on to star in Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the DC Comics title ‘Suicide Squad’. His co-stars included Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Jai Courtney. But, the Squad will have to move on without its leader as Hardy has abruptly dropped out of the project.
When actors transform for a role, we take notice (and most of the time, so does that little golden statue named Oscar). Christian Bale in ‘The Machinist,’ Matthew McConaughey in ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ Charlize Theron in ‘Monster,’ Christian Bale in the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, etc. Jake Gyllenhaal recently joined the club when he dropped 25 pounds to play the sociopathic Lou Bloom in ‘Nightcrawler,’ and now he’s at it again with his incredible transformation for his next film, Antoine Fuqua’s ‘Southpaw.’
