Meet the mama bear who has been crowned the 2023 Fat Bear Week champion.

Bears are normally seen in Missouri south of I-44. This new sighting is an exception. A confirmed black bear report has now been shared from Pleasant Hill, Missouri, but we're told that he probably won't hurt you. Maybe.

There are two interesting pieces of information to share with you. 1. A black bear was spotted near Salem, Missouri. 2. The police are advising that citizens not wrestle it. Both of those statements are remarkably true.

It's still a great time of year to look for mushrooms in Missouri. One man did just that, but instead of a tasty morel to cook he ran into a large apex predator instead.

It looks like Missouri is preparing to have its biggest ever bear season later in 2023. The state will begin offering 400 black bear permits starting in May. The Department of Conservation released all the details today of what to expect.
