First off, I imagine I'm like hundreds, thousands of fans across the United States that want to get back into the stadiums. Enough of this watching the games on television and listening in agony to nine innings of piped-in crowd noise.

As of the date of this writing, pitchers and catchers are to report to spring training in the middle of February.

The Kansas City Royals have a published date reporting to Surprise, Arizona on February 12. Position players will begin their Cactus League workouts on February 17. KC's first scheduled spring training is against the Texas Rangers in Surprise on Saturday, February 27. The 30-game preseason schedule ends on March 28 against Seattle. Home games will be played at Surprise Stadium.

The St. Louis Cardinals will hit spring training once again this year in Jupiter, Florida. An exact date for catchers and pitchers were not reported for the Cards. St. Louis' first preseason game will be against the Miami Marlins on Saturday, February 27. The Cardinals will end their Grapefruit League schedule on Sunday, March 28 against the Washington Nationals. Home games will be at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

As you well know, with dates changing like they did in 2020, the possibilities are still up in the air for 2021. Many things have to fall into place for all major league teams to have a full 162-game season. Some reports say the April 1st start date may be too early to begin the season. A mid-May start is being talked about due to ongoing vaccination efforts.

The Cardinals will have selected preseason games and regular season games broadcasted on Newstalk 1050 KSIS.
