State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer country line and couples dance courses beginning in August in Hopkins Center, Room 714 (lower level), on the Sedalia campus. 

Beginner Country Line Dance will meet from 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays from Aug. 25 to Oct. 13 (no class on Sept. 8). If you like to dance but don’t have a partner, this class is for you. Line dancing is a way to make new friends and exercise. Experienced instructor Mary Donnell-Brown makes learning fun and easy. Cost is $69 per person for seven sessions; smooth-soled shoes are recommended.

Beginner Country Couples Dance will meet from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept. 6 to Oct. 18. This course is for beginners and people who want to brush up on their skills and learn basic steps and simple variations of some of the most popular couples’ dances. You may attend alone or with a partner. Smooth-soled shoes are recommended. Mary Donnell-Brown and Larry Halseyare the instructors; cost is $65 per person for seven sessions.

Intermediate Country Line Dance will meet from 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays from Oct. 20 to Dec. 8 (no class on Nov, 24).  Previous line dance experience or instructor’s consent is required. Participants will learn more advanced dances to current music. Donnell-Brown is the instructor; cost is $69 per person for seven sessions.

Intermediate Country Couples Dance will meet 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 25 to Dec. 6. This course is a continuation of Beginner Country Couples Dance and is for students who are familiar with the basic steps and turns. Participants will learn advanced steps of the old favorites and current dances. Come with a partner or attend solo. Donnell-Brown and Halsey are the instructors; cost is $65 per person for seven sessions.

Prime Time Learners (those over 60 years old) can receive a 10 percent discount. SFCC employees must contact The LearningForce office for applicable discount details.
