State Fair Community College has announced their 2021-2022 Theatre Season which will run from September 10, 2021 through May 1, 2022. Their season ranges from the serious "With Their Eyes" to the silly with "SpongeBob SquarePants" and a slate of shows that tick all the emotions in-between.

Here's their season and a short synopsis of each show:

The season gets underway with "With Their Eyes" by Annie Thoms. According to Milbook Promotion, "With Their Eyes" is a play edited by Thoms using real interviews of students and staff at Stuyvesant High School who witnessed 9/11 from their school four blocks away. State Fair Community College's production will be directed by Ryan P. Mahannah. "With Their Eyes" will run September 10 -12

That's followed by the musical "Murder Ballad" by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash. According to Music Theatre International "Murder Ballad" was the 2013 must see off-broadway theatre experience. "'Murder Ballad' is the dramatic story of a love triangle gone wrong, centering on Sara, an uptown girl who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her." This production will be directed by Kristen Henning. "Murder Ballad" will run October 6-10.

"Murder Ballad" is followed by another hit off-broadway play called "Puffs or; Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic." "Puffs" is written by Matt Cox, and according to newspaper excerpts posted on his website, "Puffs" isn't the story of the wizard boy who went to Wizard School. It's the story of the Puffs, the others who just happened to be there too. This Harry Potter inspired comedy directed by Ryan P. Mahannah will run November 17-21.

After a break for the holidays, State Fair Community College returns with "Leveling Up" by Deborah Zoe Laufer. According to Laufer's website "Leveling Up" "is a fresh, contemporary look at how we navigate the blurry line between worlds both virtual and real and what it means to grow up."  Tim Wells will direct and the play will run February 23-27, 2022.

And Finally, the 2021-2022 season will close with "SpongeBob SquarePants" the musical.  According to Concord Theatricals, "The stakes are higher than ever in this dynamic stage musical, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage. The power of optimism really can save the world!" "SpongeBob SquarePants" book by Tina Landau and original songs from Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, They Might Be Giants David Bowie and others. Ryan P. Mahannah directs, and the musical will run from April 22 - May 1, 2022.
