SFCC was able to kick start their offense by solving a 2-3 zone defense by Link Prep that featured two seven foot tall players. Sophomore forward Amir Smith knocked down a three-point shot to give SFCC a 61-55 lead with about eight minutes remaining.

"We were able to force some turnovers in the second half and create some offense with our defense," said Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "That helped us get around their zone a little bit. Early in the game we didn't do a bad job of defending, but we weren't able to score."

Freshman guard Onteral Woodson Jr. led five Roadrunners in double-figures scoring 20 points. Smith registered a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. He also led in blocked shots with six. Sophomore guard Vonny Irvin scored 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Corey Mendez added 11 points and freshman center Isaac Bassey pitched in 10.

SFCC will host the Three Rivers Community College Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13 to open Region 16 play. This game is also part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference.
