If you consider yourself a connoisseur of winged creatures, you really should follow the website E-Bird. It is constantly updated with rare birds that are spotted in states like Missouri. Here are 2 birds that you practically never see in Missouri that were just reported by the site:

Black-bellied Whistling-Duck

This rare duck was spotted on June 4, 2023 in both Hamilton and Caruthersville, Missouri.

Trumpeter Swan

Someone spotted a Trumpeter Swan in St. Charles, Missouri on May 31, 2023.

According to the E-Bird website, a American Wigeon, Red-breasted Merganser and a White-winged Dove were also seen in Missouri over the past few days. That's just the tip of the rare bird iceberg it would appear as numerous birds not common to Missouri have been reported.

It's worth noting that many of these winged creatures are likely just passing through and not likely to make Missouri a natural habitat. It's just birds being birds.

That's why I highly recommend bookmarking E-Bird if you're a bird fan to see the latest rare birds making an appearance in the Show Me State.
