Sedalia Police Reports For August 23, 2021

Early Monday morning, Officers responded to the Motel 6, 3402 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a non breathing subject. Officers arrived on the scene to find the subject unresponsive. Officers began CPR on the subject until PCAD and Sedalia Fire arrived on the scene. PCAD took over CPR and attempted other life saving measures, but none were successful. The subject was pronounced deceased and the coroner was called to the scene. The body was released to a local funeral home.

Sedalia Police responded to the 3300 block of West Broadway Boulevard Sunday night for a report of a hit and run accident. Jeremy T. Herr reported parking his vehicle in the parking lot of the Applebee's restaurant and returned to it some time later to find it had been struck by another vehicle. The vehicle sustained minor damage but was still operational. The incident is under investigation.

Officers stopped a car in the area of West 16th Street and South Kentucky Avenue Sunday morning for driving on the wrong side of the roadway. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated and did not have a license. Jose Fidel Rubio Fernando, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested, transported to the Police Department, processed and then released to a sober person. Municipal charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Driving Without a Valid License are pending with a court date.

Saturday night, Officers responded to the 600 block of West 2nd Street in reference to property damage not in progress. The tenant and landlord arrived at the residence to find the tenant's room had been broken into a property was destroyed. Contact was made with the suspect the next day. Damon L. Lewis, 46, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. Charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Property Damage in the 1st Degree will be sent to the prosecutor.

Officers responded to the 300 block of McAnally Court Sunday morning in reference to an unresponsive subject who was possibly not breathing. Officers arrived on scene to find the subject was suffering from an overdose. The Officers administered Narcan. PCAD and Sedalia Fire arrived on scene shortly after, and the subject came to. The subject was evaluated by PCAD but declined any further medical treatment.

Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 11th Street for a report of a female yelling and chasing a vehicle. While investigating the incident, the suspect was found at a home in the 1200 block of South Moniteau Avenue. After speaking to and releasing the suspect, it was discovered that the suspect was trespassing in the home prior to law enforcement contact. Charges of trespassing are being requested through the municipal prosecutor.

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the Wood's Express, 703 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a counterfeit $100 bill that was used to purchase items from the store at some point on Friday. They were unsure at what time the bill was used. A report was made for documentation purposes only at this time.

Sedalia Police responded to the Breaktime store, 101 Rebar Road Sunday afternoon in reference to an assault that occurred at the business. A physical altercation took place near the gas pumps after an argument between two subjects. The suspect hit the victim in the shoulder. The victim did not have any apparent injuries, but requested to pursue charges. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Marvin Avenue and East 19th Street for suspicious vehicles parked in an alleyway. Officers made contact with three juveniles in one of the vehicles, which was blacked out and parked in an alley. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and the occupants were found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. All three were arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Department, and turned over to parents due to their age. Charges will be sent to the Juvenile Office for review.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1100 block of East 13th Street Saturday evening in reference to someone possibly cutting off a catalytic converter. Upon arriving, they made contact with two suspects. During the investigation, it was determined that they had not completed the theft of the catalytic converter, but had cut off one side of it. Bradley S. Adams, 28 of Cole Camp, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Adams was placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of 1st Degree Property Damage and Attempted Stealing. The other suspect was released from the scene at this time.

Friday afternoon, Officers took a theft report over the phone. Alyssa Oelrichs stated that someone stole a purse that contained miscellaneous items from a locked vehicle at Sutherlands, 3808 South Limit Avenue. The suspect then utilized credit cards from the theft at other businesses in Sedalia.

Sedalia Police responded to the Bothwell Hospital, 601 East 14th Street Sunday afternoon for a found property report. On arrival, Officers met with Todd Nappe of Bothwell Security, who stated a small baggie containing a crystal substance was located in the ER. The crystal substance was consistent with methamphetamine. The baggie was collected and placed into evidence for destruction.

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 1800 block of West Main Street. One driver showed a suspended driving status out of the state of Florida. Thomas James Commee Jr., 50, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and transported to the Police Department. Commee was booked and released on a municipal summons with a court date.

In the early morning hours of August 17th, Officers were dispatched to Scott Joplin Court for a report of a suspicious vehicle. After arriving on scene, Officers discovered that the occupant of the suspicious vehicle had driven to Scott Joplin Court. A search of the driver through Dispatch showed the driver's status was suspended. A search of the vehicle showed a glass pipe within. Rodney Douglas Bellew, 42, of Sedalia, was placed on a 24 hour hold for Driving While Suspended and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Friday evening, Officers responded to the 1100 block of East 15th Street for a report of harassment. When Officers arrived, they made contact with Michael P. Nupp, who stated that a known individual to him came onto his property and made verbal threats towards him. An investigation was completed and the incident was documented.

Late Saturday night, Officers responded to the area of East Broadway and Sellers Road for a motor vehicle crash. When Officers arrived and began speaking with one of the drivers, Officers recognized the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The same driver was also driving while suspended. After an investigation was complete, Laparis George Moore, 42, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Moore was placed on a 24 hour hold for felony Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Suspended.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 500 block of South Barrett Saturday night for a report of Domestic Assault. The caller stated his father was beating his mother. The female had injuries to her face and her shirt was torn. Lance T. Jones, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree, Tampering With a Victim/Witness in a Felony Prosecution, and Abuse/Neglect of a Child. Jones is being held on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Friday night in reference to a theft in progress. Officers made contact with the subject, who paid for the unpaid items. The subject's information was ran through Dispatch and it was confirmed she had two Failure to Appear warrants from Pettis County on original charges of Peace Disturbance and Driving While Revoked. Whitney A. Mason, 35, of Raytown, was arrested for the warrants and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a bond of $350 cash only.

Saturday night, an SUV was stopped in the area of the Cork N Bottle store, 3806 East Broadway Boulevard, for several moving violations. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. Shawn Joseph Hillen, 44, of Russellville, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Hillen was processed and released with a municipal charge of Driving While Intoxicated.

Officers responded to the 500 block of East 10th Friday evening for a theft report. Officers spoke to Shaylen Paxton, who stated that two young males came onto the front porch and took her son's bike. There is no suspect information at the time of the report.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1100 block of East 6th Street Friday night for a report of trespassing. Ladonna Nease reported that a subject known to her made entry into her residence without permission. The suspect was gone upon Officer's arrival. Nease requested prosecution, and a charge of Trespassing is being submitted to the prosecutor.

Friday night, Officers responded to the 400 block of West 18th Street for a report of property damage. Anthony D. Lafevers reported that sometime during the previous night, someone broke out the back window of his neighbor's vehicle. The damage was valued at approximately $150.

Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Marvin Avenue Saturday morning in reference to a trespass issue. A subject was sleeping on the homeowner's porch. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the suspect and the caller. Lori L. Hadley, 49, Homeless, was arrested for a state charge of Trespassing. Hadley was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24 hour hold.

In the early morning hours Friday, Officers responded to the 1100 block of East 13th Street in reference to a theft. A catalytic converter was cut off of a vehicle in the area. The oil pan of the vehicle was also damaged during the process. The value of catalytic converter was estimated at approximately $400. The damage to the oil pan was estimated at approximately $200. The suspects have not been identified at this time.

Friday evening, Officers responded to the area of East 20th Street and South Engineer Avenue after reports of a possible domestic disturbance. It was determined that the incident was a dispute over child custody. The parties agreed to exchange the child. It was also determined that threats were made to another individual involved. However, he was unable to be located. A report was made for documentation purposes at this time.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard for a report of property damage. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Joseph C. Cerbone. Cerbone stated he parked his vehicle in the parking spot with a curb on the driver's side Friday afternoon. He further stated that he came outside Saturday morning to find damage on the driver's side. Cerbone estimated the damage to be worth $1500. Photos of the damage were taken and attached to the case.

Saturday morning, Officers were flagged down by Jason Edward Fox near North Harding Avenue and East Howard Street in reference to found property. Fox had found wires on their property that did not belong to them. The wires were placed into evidence as found property.

Sedalia Police responded to Ollison's Used Cars, 2809 East 12th Street Friday night in reference to a stolen truck. A truck was reported stolen, valued at $22,000. The victim would like to pursue charges.

Early Saturday morning, Officers performed a traffic stop on a black SUV as the vehicle did not have a front license plate light. The traffic stop took place in the area of West 18th Street and South Osage Avenue. Officers spoke to the driver and performed a computer check through Dispatch. It was learned she had an active/confirmed felony warrant from Cooper County with a $10,000 cash or surety bond on original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Jesica H. Andregg, 28, of Green Ridge, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Sedalia Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of South Park Avenue and West 3rd Street Friday morning for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign. The suspect vehicle did not stop for Officers and fled. Later that morning, Officers located the suspect vehicle at Vermont Park. The driver fled on foot from the area. The suspect was located several blocks away and placed under arrest. Seth A. Farr 28, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Resisting Arrest.

Friday afternoon, Officers took a report of property that had been found in the lobby of the Police Department. The item was a brass Straight Through interchange coupler. The item was placed into evidence as found property, as the owner is unknown.

On the evening of August 17th, the Sedalia Police Department responded to the 1600 block of South Monroe Avenue for a found bicycle. Upon arriving, the bicycle was retrieved and taken to the Police Department for safekeeping.
