The City of Sedalia has announced that Malinda Geiger is their new Downtown Specialist & Planner.

According to a press release issued Thursday, Geiger, a central Missouri native, brings a wealth of experience from her work in Missouri state, county, and city government. She also has a strong background in the financial and legal fields, along with valuable expertise in event planning for non-profit organizations and Chamber of Commerce initiatives.

Malinda and her husband reside in Cooper County, where they operate a Missouri Century Farm, managing approximately 1,000 acres of row crops and cattle. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, exploring the outdoors, hiking, canoeing, camping, and spending time with her husband, son, and their four dogs, the press release said.

Geiger replaces former downtown specialist Joleigh Cornine, who resigned a couple of months ago.

The next First Thursday event is scheduled for July 3, bringing back local vendors, artists, musicians, and food trucks for a summer evening of shopping, dining and community, the City said on June 3.
