Sedalia Council Approves Various Agreements

Sedalia City Council authorized the spending of around $464,000 Monday night during its second meeting of the month.

Professional services provided by Burns and McDonnell (KCMO) related to integrated wastewater, a water master plan and a hydraulic model (rate studies) will cost $439,200.

An agreement with Engineering Surveys and Services (Columbia) for a water main improvement project concerning construction engineering and inspection services was approved by Council at a cost of $99,910.

Council approved a contract with Wilson and Company for engineering services for the design and construction survey of sidewalks around the Katy Trail Community Health construction site at Main and Kentucky at a cost of $7,600.

A track loader (Model 953C) used by the water and streets division needs repair and will cost $16,800. 60 to fix it. The winning bidder out of the two that were submitted was Diesel Track Service, LLC (Versailles). The fee includes transportation of the track loader to and from the company's headquarters, it was noted.

A request by Alex Kapitula (owner of Kapital Carpentry, LLC) to annex land into the City of Sedalia was approved by Council. The request was made to allow Kapitula to access the City's sewer service at a house under construction at 605 West 32nd.

The .26-acre lot in question is indicative of several in the area with the front of the lot inside the city limits and the rear portion in the county.

The annexation process requires a hearing, it was noted, and Kapitula wants to be connected sooner. So staff recommended a simple agreement with him that will allow the sewer connection process to go forward, pending completion of the annexation process.

Kapitula also wants City fire and police protection as well.

Other landowners in the area have inquired about annexation as well, City Administrator Kelvin Shaw noted, but no formal requests have been yet made to date.
