Things are heating up for two local teams as they try for state titles in their respective Missouri High School Soccer classes.

The District 7 Soccer champion Smith-Cotton Tigers defeated Lee’s Summit in a 2-1 sectional victory Halloween night at Tiger Stadium. Smith-Cotton (26-1) moves forward in the Class 4 quarterfinals to face Kickapoo (13-13) on November 4. The Tigers defeated Kickapoo at the Kickapoo Tournament in September – the same event where Smith-Cotton suffered its first and only loss.

If the Tigers defeat the Chiefs, they will advance to a final four game on November 10 at 6:00 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton. The Class Four State Champiopnship will be played on Saturday, November 11 in Fenton.

With Sacred Heart’s Double Overtime win over Valley Park in Class One Soccer on Saturday, October 28, the Gremlins (15-8) will advance to the semifinals  Friday, November 3, at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton against the Crocker Lions (19-1).

If the Gremlins defeat the Lions, they will advance to the Class One State Championship the next day for a 2:00 p.m. match.
