Rodney Atkins had no idea he was taking part in a gender reveal for his third child on the way when he smashed a baseball and it exploded blue powder into the air.

The 50-year-old "Watching You" hitmaker believed he was doing a video for Second Harvest Food Bank with his wife, Rose Falcon, but she had set him up. Instead, he learned he's expecting a baby boy — his third. Atkins and Falcon are parents to 1-year-old Ryder, and the country star has a 17-year-old son, Elijah, from a previous marriage.

In the hilarious footage, Falcon makes several attempts to toss a baseball to her bat-weaning husband but fails, which results in a fit of giggles. Finally, he makes contact, but seems confused when the cloud of blue comes spilling out.

"We did the 'sneak peek' gender test when Rose was pregnant with Ryder, and Eli and I got to surprise her … so this time it was her turn. And ‘boy’ she really got me good," he tells People Magazine.

The way that the couple shared with fans that they're expecting again was just as much fun — at the end of Atkins' "My Life" lyric video, released on Valentine's Day, is a shot of the star's two older sons holding an ultrasound photo.

In addition to a new baby, Atkins is expecting a new album. Caught Up in the Country arrives May 10.
