Results from Hazardous Moving Violations Patrol on St. Patrick’s Weekend

Last Friday and Saturday, deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff's Office participated in a special operation funded by a grant from MoDOT to patrol roadways for Hazardous Traffic Violations. The operation included overtime for a dispatcher and three deputies, which was fully funded by MoDOT. The goal was to reduce serious and fatal traffic crashes in the area.

The special enforcement operation took place between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2 am. on March 16 and March 17, and resulted in 78 motor vehicles being stopped. 49 verbal warnings for exceeding the posted speed limit, and 12 summonses were issued. There were 30 additional verbal warnings for various other hazardous moving violations. The operation also led to three arrests for possession f a controlled substance, three arrests for driving while intoxicated, and 1 felony arrest.

Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond says that the Sheriff's Office will participate in additional Hazardous Moving Violations Operations throughout the rest of the year. Motorists are reminded to wear seat belts, obey traffic laws, and drive safely.
