Ray Stevens released a brand-new song, "Dear America," on Tuesday (Sept. 6), and he's revealing its music video exclusively with The Boot.

Penned by Connie Jo Hamrick -- the wife of Stevens' keyboard player, Jon Hamrick -- "Dear America" is, in Stevens' words, "an open letter to America." Readers can press play above to watch its corresponding video.

"Dear America, I promise you, I'll teach my children of your freedom and your grace / And of the Founding Fathers' wisdom in the writings that they made," Stevens sings to open the ballad. "Dear America, I won't let them forget the sacrifice that your men and women made / And that our flag still flies from the dying breath they gave."

In the "Dear America" music video, shots of Stevens sitting at a piano and performing the song are interspersed with shots of U.S. landmarks -- the Sept. 11 memorial, the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge, among many others -- and picturesque landscapes. At the end of the song, as a choir of children sings the final chorus, viewers will see clips of young kids waving the American flag, a patriotic parade and a soldier reuniting with his loved ones.

"I loved the song, and I immediately wanted to record it," Stevens recalls. "And I think the record turned out really well ... I think the song is very appropriate for the situation in our country today."

"Dear America" is available for download on iTunes and Amazon. More information about Stevens can be found on his official website.
