The Mathewson Exhibition Center on the Missouri State Fairgrounds was filled with rodeo fans of all ages Friday night when Federation Productions’ NFPB (National Federation of Professional Bullriders) held the first of two bull-riding events in Sedalia.

In addition to hosting over two dozen bull riders, the event, which attracted a maximum-capacity crowd, also featured mutton-busting for the kids and a new activity (Pinball) that placed four brave cowboys on the dirt floor and challenged them to remain in their own large white hoop while an angry bull is let loose in the arena.

The fun continues next weekend (Feb. 26-27) with more rodeo excitement starting at 8 p.m. at the Mathewson Center. Tickets are $14 for adults, $7 for children ages 4-12. Kids wanting to take part in Mutton Busting should arrive at 6:30 p.m. This is the 21st anniversary of the NFPB in Sedalia, it was noted by organizer Todd Pettigrew.

Ticket outlets include Gene’s Boots & Hats, Dukes & Boots, and Dairy Queen in Sedalia. Ticket buyers can save $2 by purchasing tickets in advance at these outlets, but tickets will be available at the door each night. Call the State Fair Ticket Office (660) 530-5607.
