Arrr! Dolly Parton Adding Pirate Attraction to Dollywood
Avast, ye mateys! Dolly Parton has decided to bring her Pirates Voyage dinner show, which currently operates on the southern coast of Myrtle Beach, S.C. to a second location in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
That town is, of course, where Parton has her empire of Dollywood. The famed theme park will be able to add the pirate attraction to its roster in Spring of 2019.
“The show has been so successful in Myrtle Beach that we kept looking at Pigeon Forge and wondering why we didn’t already have a Pirates show there,” Parton observes in a statement. “We have the perfect location, in one of the hottest areas of Pigeon Forge, and the time is now for my pirates to stake claim to the Great Smoky Mountains!”
Site construction is slated to begin in January; when complete, the attraction's arena will encompass 21,000 square feet. The show will feature pirates battling on full-sized ships in a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon, and promises breathtaking acrobatics, live animals, and a five-course dinner feast to munch on while watching the action.
If all that weren't enough, the show will also be accompanied by an original music score by Parton and accomplished composer Mark Brymer.
Parton is keeping herself busy with many projects. Most recently, she was one of the contributors on 27: The Most Perfect Album, which was released on Sept. 18. The project consists of songs about the 27 amendments to the United States Constitution; Parton's song "is an explicit celebration of women’s rights as she sings about the 19th amendment (women’s suffrage)."
