Odessa Man Injured After Car Hits Tree

An Odessa man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Monday morning in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 64-year-old Stephen F. Schwartze of Odessa, was on Route U, east of Route M, at 5:40 a.m., when he struck a fallen tree that was blocking both lanes of traffic. The Jetta came to rest in the roadway, facing west.

Schwartze suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by Odessa EMS.

The Volkswagen was totaled.
