Sedalia Fire Department crews responded to 1523 South Osage for a structure fire at 6:43 a.m., Monday morning, according to Fire Chief Matt Irwin.

Crews first arrived on scene at 6:46 a.m.

Sedalia Police and PCAD also responded to the fire scene.

Fire crews advised they had heavy smoke pushing out from the roof upon arrival.

Crews made entry into the house, and a rescue of the family dog was successful.

Fire crews had the fire under control within 20 minutes and completely out at 7:46 a.m.

Traffic was rerouted around the fire scene for about three hours.

Crews cleared the scene at 9:39 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Chief Irwin said.
