Written by LBT's Karen Fairchild, Sean McConnell and Ashley Ray, "The Daughters" is a dreamy, poignant song that speaks to the plight of women grew up or are growing up being told that their physical appearance is most important, and that they themselves are less important than men.
"Pose like a trophy on a shelf / Dream for everyone but not yourself," Little Big Town harmonize during the chorus. "I've heard of God the son and God the father / I'm still looking for a God for the daughters."
Little Big Town's "The Daughters" music video features a contemporary dance troupe, choreographed by Andrew Winghart. The clip, directed by Dano Cerny, was shot in a Portland, Tenn., gymnasium, built in 1948.
Little Big Town will premiere "The Daughters" during the 2019 ACM Awards on Sunday night. They first shared the song during a lunchtime event at the 2019 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville in February.
