‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Reveals First Look at Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and More
Well it’s about dang time, wouldn’t you say? The first photos from Kingsman: The Golden Circle have debuted, revealing new American spy characters played by Channing Tatum (in a cowboy hat!), Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges. Oh, and Taron Egerton’s Eggsy is back, too, and sporting a rather sharp orange suit — somewhere, Karl Lagerfeld just felt the most mysterious chill abruptly run down his spine during his morning Diet Coke.
Entertainment Weekly premiered the first photos from Kingsman: The Secret Service, Matthew Vaughn’s rowdy, R-rated, satirical spy actioner from 2015. The sequel, titled The Golden Circle, marks the first time that Vaughn has directed a follow-up to one of his own films, which is exciting enough as is, but then you throw these handsome faces into the mix:
Bridges (looking gruff as ever, sir), Berry (looking quite smart, indeed) and Tatum (’sup) play spy members of the titular Golden Circle, the American version of the secret agency introduced in the first Kingsman. Bridges is the head of the agency, while Tatum is one of its top agents, wielding “an electric cowboy-style lasso that slices through bad guys” — please, hold your applause until the end. Berry is Ginger, the weapons and tech expert who catches the eye of Mark Strong’s Merlin.
Also returning (but not pictured) is Colin Firth in the role of Harry Hart, despite his seeming demise at the end of the previous film. Game of Thrones fan-favorite Pedro Pascal plays a spy named Jack Daniels (!), with Julianne Moore as new villain Poppy, described as a “Martha Stewart-ish” type (!!!). Sir Elton John is also set to make an appearance in the film, which hits theaters on September 29 — a trailer can’t be far off, can it?
