Kids Invited to Find the ‘Elf on the Shelf’ at Boonslick Regional Library
Boonslick Regional Library in Sedalia has a special visitor for the holiday season. An Elf on the Shelf will be hiding at locations around the library.
"Our elf's name is Daniel," said Jackie Oliphant with Boonslick Regional Library. "He'll be hiding in different places in the library. He'll also be holding a tiny little book. If a child finds Daniel, they'll get a little prize. If they can tell us which book Daniel the elf is reading, then there name will be put in a box for a grand-prize drawing."
Daniel will be hiding in the library through December 21, and the grand-prize drawing will be held on December 22. And, as most kids know (at least the nice ones), touching the elf is not allowed!
Additional holiday activities at Boonslick Regional Library include letter writing station where kids can write and mail letters to Santa Claus. On December 20 there will be a Christmas party for preschool children who participate in the library's story time program. Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to make a visit during that party.
For kids on a break from school, the library is doing a series of bring your own lunch family movies, which will be at noon on December 26-December 28, and January 2-4. "If families need something for their kids to do over the Christmas break, they can come to the library on those days at noon and we'll be showing a different movie every day," said Oliphant.
Boonslick Regional Library's Sedalia branch is also a drop-off location for this year's Community Santa toy drive.
