Jo Dee Messina's team has offered an update on the singer's health and career following her September cancer diagnosis -- and it's good news! According to the Facebook post, Messina is "feeling well" and back onstage.

The post on Messina's official Facebook page shares thanks for fans' "ongoing interest in Jo Dee's health" and "the kind words we have received" throughout the past six months, and explains that Messina is feeling good and has begun performing again. Additionally, the post shares, the artist has been writing and recording new music that "speaks directly to where Jo Dee's heart was during a tumultuous summer and where it remains today -- a place of gratitude for an unconditional, real, and faithful love."

As Messina shared with Nashville radio station WAY-FM, her cancer diagnosis, surgery and treatment tested her faith and included some financial and emotional struggles. The statement on her Facebook page explains that her new music was inspired by those hardships, and the renewed connection with God that she found because of them.

"In the midst of health, personal life, and financial struggles, at a time when she felt as though the waves were crashing down around her, Jo Dee's heart was moved to focus on the enormity of God," the statement reads. "Casting away the chaos and confusion, she praised and worshiped Him, and from that place came a song of which she is incredibly proud."

Although the Facebook note does not share a song title, it does reveal that Messina worked with Full Circle Music producers Seth Mosley and X O Connor to create "a really special and important track."

"It is so easy to focus on the hard times; to center our minds on the negative; to allow the good to be blurred by the bad," the statement concludes. "For all of you who have been asking how Jo Dee is doing and what is next for her, the answers are in the lyrics of this song. Stay tuned for what's to come -- because it's bigger than any of us!"

Messina released her debut studio album, a self-titled project, in 1996; her last studio release, Me, came in 2014. Her best-known singles include "Heads Carolina, Tails California," "I'm Alright" and "My Give a Damn's Busted."
