Illinois cinema fans are excited to celebrate one of the most famous movies ever filmed in our state.

Blues Brothers Con Returns To Illinois

One of my favorite movies of all time was filmed right here in Illinois. It's the "Blues Brothers." My dad introduced it to me when I was younger and we watched it all the time. So much so, that my mom recorded over a copy we had on a VHS tape.

The film starred many up-and-coming actors of the time who went on to do big things. It was one of those flicks that didn't do great in the theaters but became a huge cult classic and very popular through the years.

A big part of the movie's popularity was the music. Even though the Blues Brothers started as a recurring skit on "Saturday Night Live," the stars, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, turned it into a real touring band that released albums.

After the death of John Belushi, his brother Jim came in to help keep the popular characters going. Plus, they're keeping the spirit of the Blues alive and sharing it with new generations of fans to enjoy.

This year is the second annual Blues Brothers Con. The event is being held at the Old Joliet Prison which plays a big role in the movie. It's coming up on Saturday, August 17th and tickets are available now for purchase.

The all-day festival will feature live music from Chicago Blues Legends and headlined by Belushi and Aykroyd. Of course, there will be plenty of "Blues Brothers" attractions for the fans to check out too.
